Meet our 2022-23 3MT finalists: Abigail Schulte

Abigail Schulte is a first-year graduate student in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. She is one of eight finalists for Iowa State's 2022 Three Minute Thesis competition. You can watch Abigail's presentation, "Optimizing solid-state anaerobic digestion of prairie grass and dairy manure," on Thursday, Nov. 10.

 

Mechanical Engineering student Hamidreza Zobeiri wins Zaffarano Prize

Hamidreza Zobeiri, Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering, is the winner of the 2022 Zaffarano Prize for Graduate Student Research. Each spring semester, the Graduate College gives this honor to a graduate student with superior publishable research.

Academic honorable mentions include three recent graduates

Three recent Iowa State alumni received honorable mentions for this year's Karas Award for Outstanding Dissertation and Zaffarano Prize for Graduate Student Research.

Karas Award

The Karas Award for Outstanding Dissertation award recognizes students with superior research in four rotating disciplinary areas: Humanities and the Fine Arts, Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Engineering, Biological Sciences, and Social Sciences. This year, one alumna received an honorable mention for the award.

Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering postdoc reflects on accomplishments at ISU

After six years in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Yin Bao’s adventure at Iowa State is nearly complete. He earned his Ph.D. from ISU in 2018, spent the next year on campus as a postdoctoral scholar, and is now about to head to Auburn University as an assistant professor of biosystems engineering.

 

Mechanical Engineering alumnus finds new opportunity in the Twin Cities

In February of 2017, Sanvisna Kogelen attended a seminar on the Iowa State University campus. He was a year away from earning his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and he had been searching for a job in the industry.
